VEP Proud to have Dr. Leslie Mukau Elected to Cal-ACEP

Dr. Leslie Mukau has been elected to the California chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians – CAL/ACEP beginning June 2010.
Dr. Mukau currently serves with Valley Emergency Physicians as the Assistant ER Medical Director at El Centro Regional Medical Center. He is also currently the Chairman of the Code Blue Committee, the hospital’s resuscitation team; lead physician on the Rapid Response Team; member of the Infectious Disease Control Committee; and a member of the Judicial Hearing panel.
“Dr. Mukau was instrumental in helping us get the ResQpod approved for a trial use in our facility and hopefully subsequently fulltime use,” said Alma Davis, RN, Educational Instructor, and PICC Clinician at ECRMC. “We are currently evaluating the Post Resuscitation Hypothermia due to his diligence in keeping us up to date with all of the new treatment modalities.”
Educated at Brown University and John Hopkins University School of Medicine, Dr. Mukau completed residency at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital and Medical College of Pennsylvania. He is a board certified Emergency Medicine physician. He has been published multiple times and has presented at various medical conferences as an expert in the field.
“I am excited to take on my role as board member for CAL/ACEP,” said Dr. Mukau. “I am grateful for the opportunity and thank everyone at ECRMC for their encouragement and support.”
Dr. Mukau was also recently elected to fellow status in the American College of Emergency Physicians and will be honored at the 2010 Fellow Convocation Ceremony. The American Board of Physician Specialists elected him to fellow. He will be recognized at the 2010 Annual meeting, where he will also be giving a lecture to the group of physicians.
“We are proud to have Dr. Mukau honored with this election,” said Ed Kirkpatrick, Chief Nursing Officer for ECRMC. “Our physicians help keep ECRMC at the forefront of healthcare and their efforts at away from the hospital just make us stronger. Dr. Mukau has displayed excellent leadership skills we’re excited to see him recognized for them.”
